Summer McMillan

​Summer McMillan joined Jennifer Morton Law in 2023 after serving for five years as Senior Judicial Law Clerk to Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Sharon G. Lee.  Prior to her judicial clerkship, Summer was in private practice focused on civil litigation in both state and federal courts for 19 years.

Summer graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law magna cum laude in 1999.  She is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Kentucky, and has been admitted to practice in the federal district courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.  
She is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the Tennessee Employment Lawyers Association. Summer is also a Master Emeritus in the Hamilton Burnett Chapter of the American Inns of Court, a fellow of the Knoxville Bar Association Foundation, and was a member of the inaugural class of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law program.

Summer has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law, teaching courses in pretrial litigation, legal writing, and health care law. 
Prior to law school, Summer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee, Master of Arts degree from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University in Classical Studies.  She served as a visiting assistant professor at Denison University, where she taught Latin, Greek, and Classical literature.
In her free time, Summer enjoys sailing vacations and visiting with her grandchildren.
